Melissa Etheridge reveals son Beckett Cypher died from opioid habit

Melissa Etheridge’s son Beckett died from opioid habit, the singer revealed Wednesday evening.


“As we speak I joined the tons of of 1000's of households who've misplaced family members to opioid habit,” the singer, 58, wrote. “My son Beckett, who was simply 21, struggled to beat his habit and at last succumbed to it at the moment.


“He might be missed by those that cherished him, his household and mates. My coronary heart is damaged. I'm grateful for individuals who have reached out with condolences and I Really feel their love and honest grief,” the notice continued.


“We struggled with what else we might have executed to avoid wasting him and ultimately we all know he's out of the ache now.”


“I'll sing once more, quickly,” Etheridge’s notice concluded. “It has at all times healed me.”


Etheridge met her ex-partner, Beckett’s mom Julie Cypher, in 1986 on the set of the video for her single, “Carry Me Some Water.” Cypher was, on the time, married to actor Lou Diamond Phillips, and after divorcing him in 1990, went on to have daughter Bailey, 23, and Beckett with Grammy winner Etheridge. They finally revealed that their sperm donor was 1960s icon David Crosby.
